If pilling occurs due to fiber friction, shedding, and tangling (common in polypropylene or low-count nylon carpets), a dedicated carpet pill remover can be used. Gently push the remover along the direction of the carpet pile to remove pills, avoiding forceful pulling that may cause fiber breakage. If pilling is accompanied by pile flattening, a steam cleaner can be used in conjunction: high-temperature steam softens the fibers, after which a comb can be used to straighten and restore the pile's fluffiness. Prevention should start from the source: when purchasing, prioritize tufted carpets with high fiber twist. Avoid using styles with excessively long surface piles in guest rooms and other areas. Additionally, place anti-slip mats in high-foot-traffic areas such as corridors and elevator entrances to reduce direct friction on the carpet.

Carpet fading is largely related to cleaning methods and environmental light exposure. If alkaline cleaning agents are mistakenly used during cleaning, they can easily damage the carpet's dye layer. In such cases, immediately dilute a neutral cleaning agent and wipe the affected area repeatedly to neutralize residual alkaline substances. Odor issues mostly stem from moisture buildup or residual stains. If the carpet develops a musty smell due to dampness, first use a dehumidifier to reduce ambient humidity. Then spray the carpet surface with a diluted white vinegar solution (1:10 ratio of white vinegar to water), let it sit for 30 minutes, and suck up the solution with a vacuum cleaner—white vinegar effectively neutralizes musty odors. For odors caused by residual food or beverage stains, first press a water-absorbent towel to blot up the stains, then apply a bioenzyme cleaner to break down the organic matter that is the source of the odor.
