Comparison of Hotel Carpet Materials: Advantages and Disadvantages Analysis of Nylon, Polypropylene and Wool Carpets
As the core of space decoration and functional adaptation, the choice of hotel carpet material directly affects the user experience, durability and operational costs. At present, the commonly used carpet materials in hotels are mainly nylon, polypropylene and wool. Each of the three has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of performance, applicable scenarios and costs. A reasonable selection can effectively improve the hotel grade and reduce maintenance costs. Combined with the actual use needs of hotels, the core characteristics of the three are compared in detail as follows.
Nylon carpets are the most widely used material in hotels, with prominent advantages: they have extremely high wear resistance, can withstand the trampling of high-frequency pedestrian flow, and are not easy to pill or deform, making them suitable for high-traffic areas such as lobbies and corridors; they are easy to clean and stain-resistant, and can quickly remove coffee, stains and other dirt, meeting the hygiene requirements of hotels; they have good toughness, are not easy to break, have a long service life, and come in rich colors that can match different decoration styles.
Their disadvantage is that the price is medium, and they are prone to aging when exposed to long-term sunlight, so sun protection measures need to be taken properly.

Polypropylene carpets are a cost-effective choice, with low price, suitable for hotel scenarios that need to control costs; they have excellent moisture-proof and mildew-proof performance, and can be used in humid areas such as underground floors and around bathrooms; they are light in weight and easy to lay, which can improve construction efficiency. However, their shortcomings are obvious: their wear resistance is slightly inferior to that of nylon, they are prone to fuzzing and deformation after long-term use, and their texture is relatively ordinary, making them unsuitable for core areas of high-end hotels.
Wool carpets focus on high-end texture, with soft and comfortable touch and good air permeability, which can enhance the hotel grade, and are suitable for high-end guest rooms, VIP reception areas and other scenarios; they are naturally environmentally friendly and odorless, in line with the concept of green hotels. However, their disadvantages are significant: the price is expensive, the maintenance cost is high, they are easy to get damp and moldy, not wear-resistant, and require regular professional care, so they are not suitable for high-traffic areas.
In summary, hotels need to reasonably select materials based on their own positioning, use scenarios and cost budgets: high-end hotels should give priority to the combination of wool and nylon, while ordinary hotels can choose a combination of nylon as the main material and polypropylene as the auxiliary, balancing practicality and economy.
