Common Problems and Solutions for Hotel Carpet Laying Construction
Hotel carpet laying is a refined construction process, whose quality directly determines the overall aesthetics and service experience of hotel guest rooms, corridors and lobbies. On-site construction is prone to common problems such as bulging and wrinkling, stitching gaps, edge warping and pattern misalignment. Improper treatment will not only damage the decoration texture, but also cause hidden troubles such as dust accumulation, accelerated wear, falling off and deformation during long-term use. Mastering common construction problems and scientific solutions is the key to realizing flat, durable and aesthetic hotel carpet laying.
Carpet bulging and wrinkling are the most prevalent construction problems. They are mainly caused by uneven or damp base floors, uneven stretching force during laying, or insufficient expansion margins, leading to carpet shrinkage and deformation due to later temperature and humidity changes. Before construction, the floor shall be leveled and thoroughly dehumidified to keep the ground dry and solid. During laying, the carpet shall be stretched at a uniform and moderate tension to avoid partial looseness or tightness, and left to shape after construction, which effectively prevents large-area bulges and wrinkles.

Obvious stitching gaps and pattern misalignment frequently occur in large-area laying, mostly resulting from cutting dimension errors, inaccurate alignment and batch color differences, which seriously undermine the overall visual effect. Construction requires unified cutting standards and accurate alignment of carpet textures and patterns. Carpets of the same batch shall be used in the same area to avoid chromatic aberration. Special splicing tapes are adopted for tight fixation and flattening, ensuring seamless and coherent stitching with consistent textures.
Edge warping and corner falling off are frequent quality hazards. Poor fixation and loose installation of pressing strips at walls, door frames and aisle edges easily cause warping after long-term trampling, affecting aesthetics and bringing tripping risks. The base layer at edges shall be thoroughly cleaned, bonded evenly with environment-friendly strong adhesive and compacted with special trimming strips, with key reinforcement at corners to eliminate loosening and warping.
In addition, residual dust and sundries on the floor will cause local bulges and abrasion of the carpet. The base layer must be thoroughly cleaned before construction. In general, hotel carpet construction needs to strictly control four key points: base layer treatment, precise cutting, tension control and edge reinforcement. Avoiding and correcting common construction defects effectively improves laying flatness and service life, and guarantees the overall decoration quality of hotels.
